Video for the Meadownoise song "Maybelle, Come to Me" by Ben Marcantel and Kris Nardoan from the album "It's 4:00."
Once, after watching a Meadownoise show, I mentioned to ’Noise frontman/principal member Matt Glassmeyer that his song "Maybelle, Come to Me" reminds me of the locally produced and filmed featured
The Colonel's Bride(a film
I once describedas a "heartrending depiction of an austere, aging Vietnam veteran and his twilight marriage to a mail-order bride"). Like Bride, "Maybelle" paints a portrait of a unique relationship in striking, minimalist fashion.
Anyway, random associations aside, "Maybelle, Come to Me" from last year's It's 4:00 is an interesting story song, complete with some rather lovely horns. Glassmeyer and fellow local instrumentalist Ben Marcantel made the above video, so give that a look. Meadownoise will play The Stone Fox this Thursday, Aug. 8, with Duane Pitre.
