Not only was I late in knowing about the first single from Metallica's Death Magnetic being available online, turns out the whole damn album had been leaked all over the interwebs well ahead of its Sept. 12 release date. (Isn't Friday a weird day to release an album?) I've been listening to it fairly obsessively, and it ain't bad. It's not all that great, either. Had it been made by any other band, I probably wouldn't have given it a second listen. But what's really bizarre is how the band is reacting to the leak. According to a BBC story, Lars Ulrich told a San Fransisco radio station, "It's 2008 and it's part of how it is these days." That's kinda how things worked in 2000 also.

So there you have it. Go download it. I got it on Soulseek. You'll probably want to skip "Unforgiven III" entirely.

Like what you read?
