Impress Your Friends: The Five Most Important Stoner Metal Records of All Time

Can I interest you in a stoner metal show at The Muse? It's a doozy: Weedeater, Rwake and Black Tusk on Aug. 1. Either of the latter two alone would warrant trekking to the dodgey side of 4th Ave, and, while Weedeater aren't particularly interesting, they managed to win warm praise from at least one not-so-metal media outlet. That same reference guide for hipsters fawned over the last Rwake record too. So it seems The Muse has accidentally snagged a You-Know-Who-endorsed show, and they didn't even have to book Girl Talk.

I'm aware that these bands are far from household names, so you might have to do a little bit of homework between now and August. To help, I've compiled an authoritative and indisputable list of the Five Most Important Stoner Metal Records of All Time. If you want to impress strangers at what I can only imagine will be the hipster event of the summer, you'd better learn these albums and find ways to name-drop them. For example, I name-dropped them on a blog.
