As our amiable admiral Jim Ridley said would happen, in a recent
editor's note, as of today I am
no longermusic editor of the Scene. I've taken the job of culture editor at the paper, and in that capacity I'll be curating special sections and writing — on music still, but also more on "front-of-the-book" topics, as we call such things that appear before Critics' Picks in the dead-tree edition. I'll be around.
Taking over as music editor is a man who needs no introduction around these parts: D. Patrick Rodgers. If you've read Nashville Cream or the paper at all over the past few years, you already know he's a smart dude and a well-versed dude. He also cares deeply about the local music scene. Early on in his tenure as music listings editor, he displayed the kind of heat-seeking tenacity it takes to make it in this business, so I know the music section is in good hands. Treat him well and, just as importantly: Remember he's the guy you should be sending promo copies of your record to now.
