Long ago, when stuff was different and we were all just kids,
we told youabout how Jack White and legendary rockabilly songstress Wanda Jackson were working on a record together. Well, said album — titled The Party Ain’t Over — was recently completed, and it will be available Jan. 25. Third Man Records recently released a single from The Party Ain’t Over: “Thunder on the Mountain” b/w “Dust on the Bible,” which became available via iTunes on Dec. 7. You can also get it physically
via Third Man’s site.
In celebration of Ms. Jackson’s release, she’ll be playing two shows while backed by an outfit known as “The Third Man House Band” [Via]. The band features White on guitar, though the rest of the lineup is a bit of a mystery right now. We do know, however, that Carl Broemel of My Morning Jacket as well as White’s go-to rhythm section, Lawrence & Keeler (Greenhornes, Raconteurs), all contributed to the album, so it seems entirely plausible that some of those dudes will be involved. Wanda Jackson and the Third Man House Band will appear at the Williamsburg Hall of Music in Brooklyn on Jan. 21, and at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on Jan. 23. Word is that there may be some television appearances in there somewhere as well, but how much you want to bet that they won't do Leno?
Oh, and also from the Department of Things You May Have Heard But Don’t Know for Sure, Jackson and White performed a Black Cab Session while the BCS folks were in town. There's no stopping these two, it seems.
