In this week’s Scene cover story, which was written by music editor Adam Gold, we named the saviors of RCA Studio A — Aubrey Preston, Ben Folds, Mike Kopp, Trey Bruce, Sharon Corbitt-House, Mike Curb and Chuck Elcan — the 2014 Nashvillians of the Year. It’s these seven individuals who are responsible for preserving the historic studio, saving it from being turned into a 70- to 80-unit condominium complex by Bravo Development.
But if you get your hands on a hard copy of the Scene, you may notice that one face — a particularly familiar face, as a matter of fact — is conspicuously absent. Due to a printing error, Ben Folds’ portrait was omitted from the cover. See what the cover was supposed to look like alongside a photo of what the cover does look like on the right. No, that microphone is not supposed to represent Ben Folds.
So we want you, the reader, to submit your artist’s rendering of the absent Mr. Folds. Draw (or carve, paint, etch … use whatever means you prefer) Folds on the cover, tweet a photo of your rendering at us (@NashvilleScene) and include the hashtag #FindingBenFolds. We’ll pick the best one, and the artist will receive a $250 cash prize, a $100 restaurant credit at MySceneDeals.com, and acknowledgement in our next issue. Not too shabby, right? Show us what you’ve got.
