Don't Forget: Creed Play Sommet Center Tonight

This photoshop never gets old.

In case you've forgotten, that ridiculously cheap Creed show at the Sommet Center is tonight. I don't know about y'all, but I've had a GREAT fucking day and I'd love nothing more than to go even higher. I got cable today. For the first time in over a year I can spend my entire weekend watching MSNBC and VH1 Classic in my underwear.

Here's what I had to say about Creed in this week's dead tree edition of the Scene:

Admit it: You kind of missed Creed. If not for their divine post-grunge stylings, then for the many transgressions that took rock clichés "Higher" than Spinal Tap ever could have. Whether motivated by a band member's claim that lead singer Scott Stapp was a better songwriter than his muse Eddie Vedder, to Stapp's comically messianic persona, drunken jack-assery on celebrity poker shows, beefs with Fred Durst, beat-downs by the members of 311 and the group of fans who sued the band for performing a terrible concert in 2003, never in the history of rock music has there been a more fun band to hate. On top of all that, they—like another band of comedians, The Blues Brothers—were on a mission from God. Now, in 2009, Stapp & Co. have reunited. Whether it's in hopes of finding some critical redemption or just to make us smile once again, ticket prices as low as $7.79 are surely a sign of the times, as well as a fine incentive for actual fans of the band (they're out there, right?) to embrace their return to the stage with arms wide open.
