Chef Joe Shaw, who most recently served as executive chef and general manager at The Standard, will take a similar post at Miro District Food & Drink in the Adelicia condominium, starting Monday. Chef Sean Norton remains executive chef at sister restaurant Watermark.
The arrival represents a return of sorts for Shaw, who helped launch Watermark in 2005. (Businessman Jerry Brown owns both restaurants.) Chef Shaw says he will continue the casual bistro theme at Miro while introducing Southern cuisine from across the region—including New Orleans-style brunch, a hot Brown from Kentucky and Lowland shrimp and grits. He says changes will be significant—including uniforms, music, table settings—but the price point, which recently lowered as Miro's menu moved from Italian toward French, will not rise with the transition to Southern cuisine.
Shaw will roll out new menus for lunch, dinner, bar and brunch, starting Aug. 17.
