You may recognize Tammy and the T. Rex from its days as a perennial staple of Blockbuster shelves, but you’ve never seen it like this before. A young Paul Walker is mauled to death by zoo animals, has his brain transplanted into the body of an animatronic dinosaur, and falls in love with Denise Richards. If that sounds like a plot that’s too scandalous for children, you’re not far off. Tammy and the T. Rex ended up as a straight-to-video kids movie, but it started as an R-rated splatter show with special effects from the director of Friday the 13th Part VII before being cut down and cleaned up for the Saturday morning crowd. The new “Gore Cut” of this jurassic classic — from Stewart Raffill, the mind behind trashterpieces Mac and Me, The Ice Pirates and Mannequin Two: On the Move — restores Tammy to its full horrific glory for the very first time. Midnight at the Belcourt, 2102 Belcourt Avenue NADINE SMITH
