In the midst of all the changes going on, it’s nice to be able to count on some things. Even though FooBar has been replaced by The Cobra, the East Nashville club is still making room for non-run-of-the-mill events, like AL-D and ET’s quarterly hip-hop showcase Meant for the Milk Crate. The winter installment of said showcase has some talent that’s sure to warm your bones, too. Headlining MC Nam White is seriously underrated — his summertime track “NoBot” has both a timely message about drone warfare and a beat that won’t quit trying to get you to dance, and his album Hot Chicken is equal parts clever storytelling, sage perspective and deep soul groove. Racq and Stainless are also on the bill. As always, there will be a post-show open-mic cypher, and this time, Illest Crew and Arctic Circle will keep the beat moving. STEPHEN TRAGESER
