Now in its 11th year, Live on the Green kicks off this season’s series of shows with a lineup featuring indie-pop, R&B, rock and Americana performers. The event is free, though you can spring for VIP tickets that will give you access to food, drink and seating options. This year’s first event of the series, which is sponsored by Nashville radio station WRLT — better known as Lightning 100 — will feature Texas R&B guitarist and singer Gary Clark Jr., who combines Stevie Ray Vaughan-style blues licks with political commentary and hints of hip-hop on his latest album, This Land. Meanwhile, English-born Americana-soul singer Yola cut her new record Walk Through Fire in Nashville with producer Dan Auerbach and a studio band that included famed Memphis and Nashville session drummer Gene Chrisman. The indie-pop side of things will be represented by Canadian band The Strumbellas, who straddle the line separating emo from Americana. Rounding out the bill is singer Lucie Silvas, whose 2018 album E.G.O. evokes the ’60s pop of Jackie DeShannon on tracks like “Girls From California.” 6 p.m. at Public Square Park, Union Street and Third Avenue North EDD HURT
