Laur Joamets

For Sturgill Simpson fans out there (and let’s assume that means most of you), the ace up the singer’s rolled-up sleeve — shit-hot, nimble-fingered Estonian guitarist Laur “Lil Joe” Joamets — needs little or no introduction. Sure, you’ve heard him bust out head-spinning-but-tasteful Tele-friendly country and bluegrass chops without breaking a sweat. But did you know he can also rip hard on some Hendrix? It makes sense on paper, but tonight at The Basement East, the, ahem, experience of Lil Joe doing his best “Hey Joe” is a likely reality. And not only Joamets will be there. This tribute he’s hosting also features able-voice-and-fingered Nashville cats the likes of Audley Freed, Daniel Donato, Reeve Powers, Jim Oblon, Tommy Scifres, Derek Hoke, Johnny Duke, Allen Thompson, Keshia Bailey, Matt Prince and Ted Pecchio.
