Jeff Lynne's ELO w/Dhani Harrison

Jeff Lynne may have been the least famous member of late-’80s/early-’90s supergroup The Traveling Wilburys, but the impact of his prolific catalog with prog-pop innovators Electric Light Orchestra can’t be overstated. Between 1971 and 1986, ELO released 11 powerfully catchy symphonic rock ’n’ roll albums — most of which went at least gold — and had 25 singles crack Billboard’s Top 100. Of course, that’s not even to mention Lynne’s work as a co-producer on records by the likes of Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney and his fellow Wilburys Tom Petty, George Harrison and Roy Orbison. The man’s legacy as a rock god has been secured for decades, despite the fact that he has only one Grammy (an absolute travesty!). Now, at age 71, the reportedly shy rocker has returned to the road, playing arenas the world over under the banner Jeff Lynne’s ELO, doling out his timeless gems with a world-class crew of rockers that includes longtime collaborator Richard Tandy on keyboards. The group’s most recent set lists show that all the hits have been there: “Evil Woman,” “All Over the World,” “Livin’ Thing,” “Telephone Line,” “Don’t Bring Me Down” and “Mr. Blue Sky,” not to mention ELO’s very first charting single (their cover of Chuck Berry’s “Roll Over Beethoven,” which hit No. 42 in 1973) and one Wilburys tune (you probably know which, but I won’t spoil it for you). The man is an icon, and while tickets to his Bridgestone Arena gig are dwindling as of press time, some still remain. Don’t miss this opportunity. Dhani Harrison — son of George, and a strong performer in his own right — will open. 8 p.m. at Bridgestone Arena, 501 Broadway D. PATRICK RODGERS
