Forget about the gas shortage; Middle Tennessee’s gas stations are about to be blindsided by the Great Faygo Crisis of 2016, as notorious Detroit clown rappers Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope descend upon Nashville like a cloud of face-paint-wearing locusts. Here’s the thing about Insane Clown Posse: Making fun of their carnival-core aesthetic is like shooting fish in a barrel. Yes, it’s easy to make fun of their cartoonish white-trash personas, their cartoonish white-trash music festival or their cartoonish white-trash lyricism. But if we’re going to be real here, Insane Clown Posse is one of the most successful independent rap groups in America. They’ve released 14 albums (two of them platinum records) and, for a generation of down-and-out outsiders, they represent something powerful. They’re still not good at rapping though. On this, the duo’s first Nashville appearance since cutting a record at Third Man with JEFF the Brotherhood, ICP will perform 1995’s Riddle Box in its entirety. LANCE CONZETT
