Rosemary With Ginger

The second Nashville production by the transplanted Chicago Talking Machine Company is this one-act written by New York-based playwright Edward Allan Baker, who generally specializes in shorter works. The play is set in the early 1990s, with two sisters meeting in the diner formerly run by their parents that is now closing for good. It’s a combative reunion, involving the siblings’ messed-up personal lives, including bad habits, loveless relationships, children and more. Major immediate issues come to the fore and require serious point-counterpoint discussion, as Rosemary and Ginger wend their way to the fragile chance at rediscovering their common bonds. Tamara Todres, terrific in last season’s Slasher, teams up with former Los Angeles-based actor-teacher Laura Holloway to create fireworks in a play long on characterization and short on plot.
