Do you like your neighbors? Have you ever even met them? Jakob Lewis’ podcast Neighbors from Nashville Public Radio doesn’t necessarily ask you to meet the folks who don’t cut their lawn or who leave their trash bin out a few days too long, but it does seek to connect people to their communities. (And really, what’s stopping you from meeting the guy down the street who blasts heavy metal at 2 a.m.?) In Lewis’ latest effort at connecting people, he’s hosting the second annual Neighbors House Party at Yazoo Brewing Company. The people connected to the voices you hear on WPLN will be there, as will several of the folks who have been featured on Neighbors. If that’s not enough, the event will feature juggling, beer, improv and an appearance from Lewis’ band, The Live Oak Long Pickers, who will perform traditional pub songs and sea shanties. Don’t spend your evening trying to figure out if the Klopeks are part of a murderous Satanic cult: Come out and meet them in person. AMANDA HAGGARD
