We regularly use freelance critics for film reviews. We run all of our reviews in advance of a film’s opening, and therefore our critics should reach out to distributors/PR reps directly for advance screenings and screener links. We expect our freelancers to cultivate these relationships and arrange their screenings directly, and pitch reviews for films well in advance (three weeks or more, preferably) of their release.
Though we often put a preference on films showing at local independent film center the Belcourt, we also run reviews of wide releases, limited-run releases at non-Belcourt theaters, and occasionally, digital releases.
