In 2019, we saw some serious flexing by local thespians Alicia Haymer, Tamara Todres and Lauren Berst — all three took the stage in Nashville Story Garden’s exceptional Dance Nation, and Haymer directed Todres and Berst in Kindling Arts Festival’s All the Dead Things. (Both plays snagged mentions in the Scene’s Best of Nashville issue.) The trio is rolling into 2020 with If You Forget Me, a dark comedy by Chicago-based playwright Nora Leahy. After surviving an accident, Kate’s fiancé does not remember her — at all. Kate (Todres) goes to her family home to get her bearings, but her mother (Cheryl White) and sister (Berst) have their own issues and don’t offer her the solace she needs. I have high hopes for If You Forget Me, in large part because Haymer is establishing herself as a triple threat — actress, director and playwright — and she’ll be helming this production by Nashville Story Garden. It’s gonna be good. 7:30 p.m. Jan. 7-9, 16, 18-19 at Actors Bridge Studio, 4610 Charlotte Ave. ERICA CICCARONE
