Amahl and the Night Visitors & Pepito

It’s been 68 years since Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors first premiered on national television on Christmas Eve, but this beloved holiday classic, which follows a young shepherd boy and three mysterious kings, continues to enchant audiences of all ages. This weekend, Nashville Opera will pair this seasonal favorite with a new mini-opera — Pepito, which premiered at the Kennedy Center earlier this year. Centering on a forgotten shelter dog in search of his forever home, Pepito (like Amahl) offers a timely lesson in unconditional love. Visit nashvilleopera.org for tickets and showtimes. Dec. 13-15 at the Noah Liff Opera Center, 3622 Redmon St. AMY STUMPFL
