Friends of Warner Parks is hosting the second annual Hummingbird Happy Hour to raise funds for the BIRD (Bird, Information, Research and Data) Program, and will be held in the back courtyard, with drinks and light fare -- followed by a concert performed by award-winning jazz vocalist Annie Sellick and accomplished harmonica player and guitarist Pat Bergeson. The event takes place at the height of the hummingbird season, no other event allows you to watch so many hummingbirds in action.
You can also delight in the photography of Chris Sloan, Graham Genderman and Ed Schneider, all bird enthusiasts and talented photographers.
Hummingbird Happy Hour raises funds for the B.I.R.D. Program which allows Warner Park staff and volunteers to conduct extensive banding and bird counts, and take part in Project FeederWatch, a survey of winter bird populations across North America conducted by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Bird Studies Canada. Warner Park Nature Center is one of only a few places in the country where observers can watch bird banding in action! In addition, the program offers a wide range of bird education programs to the public – including those appropriate for all ages, preschoolers, home-schooled children, high school students and others.
