The Harvey Keitel of musicians, bassist Lorne Rall has that kind of beefy-handed, road-weary, your-mama-wouldn’t-like-him look that’s simply mesmerizing—and sexy as hell. No tellin’ how many salivating senoritas have wanted to take home this bad boy of the stage. Watching him play recently with the inimitable Kristi Rose at East Nashville’s Family Wash, we could hardly concentrate on our vegetarian shepherd’s pie. Was he glancing our way? The native Southern Californian has been in Nashville for about a decade, has played with such artists as Steve Forbert, and has co-written (and co-habitated, we hear) with the likes of Lucinda Williams. Lorne’s bio says that, besides playing bass, guitar and drums professionally, he also sings, surfs, skis and fishes. We suspect he doesn’t need lures at all; the fish probably jump right in his lap.
