There are dozens and dozens of cover bands all across Nashville, playing in honky-tonks and bars from Bellevue to Madison. But when Fond Object let word slip that their Record Store Day festivities would end with Turbo Fruits covering classic-era Misfits, Nashville’s punk population wept with joy. Though he didn’t sport a sweet devilock, lead Fruit Jonas Stein wails “We Are 138” and “Skulls” like he was possessed by Glenn Danzig himself. When your cover band instigates a mosh pit before they even start, you know you’ve got something.
