The Cupcake Collectionin Germantown will host Alex's Lemonade Stand, a program that raises money to fund research for the prevention and cure of childhood cancers. Each day, there will be a lemon- or lemonade-themed cupcake available for sale, with a portion of the revenue benefitting the program. Mignon Francois of The Cupcake Collection has set a fundraising goal of $500.
Along with the special cupcakes available at the store, there's a "virtual lemonade stand" where you can donate online. You can also help by making donations or placing delivery orders (for shipment anywhere in the U.S.) of the special cupcakes over the telephone. On Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays (the bakery is closed Saturdays), customers can make donations in person.
And I highly recommend that you visit in person. The sweet lemonade cupcake (and all their lemonade-themed cupcakes) are my favorite cupcakes of all time. I struggle at each visit (when I allow myself just one cupcake) to choose between sweet lemonade and sweet potato, but the lemonade almost always wins.
