Barista Parlor at Sylvan Supply
West Nashville’s Sylvan Supply has landed seafood restaurant Red Perch, Beauty School Salon and Elà Mar Med Spa.
According to a release, each is expected to open by early fall at the former Madison Mill complex at 4101 Charlotte Ave.
In addition, Sylvan Supply will see the addition of a “jewel box” building connected to the main courtyard and to be home to Barista Parlor. The addition will provide both indoor and outdoor seating for the Nashville-based cafe, which is expected to open in September. The space, designed by Nashville-based Dryden Architecture + Design, will provide connectivity between the lower courtyard retail locations of Radish, Bearded Iris and Punk Wok with the upper level of Woodland Wine Merchants.
Also, Otaku Ramen West is now a permanent tenant at Sylvan Supply. Owner Sarah Gavin last fall opened a pop-up location focused on delivery and to-go in response to COVID-19. The release notes business exceeded expectations and Gavin has signed a long-term lease.
Similarly, the owners of Nashville craft brewery Bearded Iris are preparing to open a taproom at the facility once Metro officials update COVID regulations. Sylvan Supply will be home to the brewery’s first lager and research and development programs, which will focus on small-batch experimental offerings, as well as a ramen shop from Black Dynasty Secret Ramen House. Black Dynasty, to date, has operated from Bar Sovereign in SoBro.
Other businesses in Sylvan Supply include Accenture, Keller Williams Realty, Row House, Green Pea Salon, Another Broken Egg and the corporate office for Bricktops.
The aforementioned Red Perch is Cameron Payne's fast-service seafood concept with a focus on Australian fish and chips. Elà Mar is a medical esthetics boutique specializing in non-surgical cosmetic treatments and skin care. Beauty School Salon is a new salon from the Parlour & Juke ownership team in East Nashville.
Atlanta-based Third & Urban co-owns Sylvan Supply with investment partner FCP, which is based in Washington, D.C.
“We are excited to continue to expand what is already a great group of retail tenants by announcing Red Perch, Elà Mar Spa and Beauty School Salon are coming to Sylvan Supply,” Chris Faussemagne, Third & Urban partner, says in the release. “Despite some significant headwinds, we have delivered an open-air, historic renovation project that continues to draw tremendous community and business support.”
The Sylvan Supply design by Centric Architecture and landscape architect Hodgson Douglas uses outdoor corridors and terraces with green space to connect the eight buildings and to foster, as the release notes, a “collaborative and active environment.” The buildings offer a collective approximately 162,000 square feet of Class A creative office space, as well as over 32,000 square feet of food/beverage, fitness and other retail spaces. Sylvan Supply is now more than 80 percent leased.
“Third & Urban and FCP are continuing to establish the vision we had for Sylvan Park,” Metro Councilmember Kathleen Murphy, in whose District 24 the project sits, says in the release. “The continued success and momentum of Sylvan Supply shows seeking a better use for the historic structures was the right direction for the revitalization of the Charlotte Avenue corridor.”
