The BE-Hive is an East Nashville company that focuses on providing plant-based foods to both wholesale and retail customers. You can find their vegan seitan products like marinated deli slices, chorizo and pepperoni at retail locations such as Turnip Truck or direct from the company online at their website. Local restaurants also include some of their products as plant-based alternative menu items, so look for them at 312 Pizza, Baja Burrito, Nicky’s Coal Fired, Rosemary and many others. They also host pop-up events to raise awareness of their products and sell wraps and sandwiches at their weekend deli at 2414 Gallatin Ave. on Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. 4 p.m.
Their next pop-up will be the biggest yet: This Saturday, Aug. 31, they will host several local vendors in the parking lot for what they are calling The Bar BE Cue, the ultimate end-of-summer plant-based cookout. In addition to the the BE-Hive's own healthy products, they have invited Avo, Succulent Vegan Tacos, Radical Rabbit, Five Points Pizza and Rose Gold Bakery to sell food as part of the event. Absolut Juice will be providing a bar along with beer from Bearded Iris.
Each vendor will donate a percentage of proceeds to the Nashville Humane Association, which is committed to finding responsible homes for pets, controlling pet overpopulation, and promoting the humane treatment of animals. There will also be puppies on-site available for adoption, a dunk tank, music by KDSML and ORIG the DJ, and Hail, Dark Aesthetics selling their fun oddities.
The party kicks off at 11 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m., and there’s no cost to attend. Each vendor will price their food a la carte, and they promise drinks will be cheap! Street parking is always a questionable proposition at large events like these, so please consider ride-sharing.
