If you’re looking for a way to spice up your Independence Day celebrations, you may just be in luck thanks to a new partnership between local drink mixer manufacturer Walker Feed Co. and Gulch-area hot chicken restaurant Party Fowl. They have teamed up to create what they claim is the first Nashville Hot Bloody Mary mix.
Party Fowl owner Austin Smith has been thinking about this for a while now. “I’ve dreamed about producing a Nashville Hot Bloody Mary mix for a long time. It was a no-brainer when the opportunity to work with Kristin Walker and her product came about. We are huge fans of the Walker brand to begin with, and are so grateful they’re allowing us to become a part of their family.”
Party Fowl executive chef Bart Pickens has already developed his own Nashville Hot Chicken spice blend that he adds to Walker’s Southern Bloody Mary, which features bourbon-barrel-aged worcestershire, blackstrap molasses and creole mustard. “The smoked paprika, habanero blend, cayenne and chili powder that are in my hot chicken spices intensify the spice level that is already indigenous to the flavor profile that Walker’s Southern Bloody Mary already offers,” says Pickens. “Walker’s uses real tomato juice in their product instead of adding water and diminishing the flavor like some other products on the market do. You can tell in the texture that it is the real deal.”
The new mix is available in 750 milliliter bottles to purchase for $9.99 at the restaurant at Eighth and Division, with plans to expand retail distribution through Athens Distributing Co. in the near future. The mix can also be purchased through the Walker Feed Co. online shop if you’re not planning to head downtown any time soon.
