Daddys Dogs 10 years

Looking at this week’s culinary calendar, all I can say is that I hope you’re hungry!

Nashville’s favorite wiener slinger Sean Porter is celebrating 10 years of Daddy’s Dogs this Wednesday, July 16, and one lucky frank-ophile will win free hot dogs for life. It won’t be easy, especially if you’re still full from your Burger Week binge. Daddy has set the bar high to qualify for the drawing to win the opportunity to buy your cardiologist a boat.

Per a press release, here's all you have to do to enter:

  • 🌭 Visit all 5 Daddy’s Dogs locations on National Hot Dog Day.

  • 🧢 Make a purchase and grab a stamp at each stop and claim your limited-edition 10-Year Anniversary merch pack.

  • 🎟️ Complete the circuit and get entered to win Free Hot Dogs for Life.

If you want to increase your odds, make stops by Gramp's Garage and the Daddy’s Dog counter at the Nashville SC match at Geodis that evening for extra chances to win. May fortune be in your favor!

Nourish

A quick reminder that The Nashville Food Project’s big fundraising Nourish dinner event is Thursday night, July 17, at Marathon Music Works. That starts at 5:30. Surprisingly, some tickets are still available, so if you’d like to help out this very worthy organization and enjoy food from some of the city’s best chefs — including the culinary talents behind Bad Idea, Saap Saap, Tantisimo, Turkey & The Wolf Icehouse, Curry Boys BBQ and S.S. Gai — snag one of the remaining tickets at the event website.

Hearts Fifth Anniversary

It’s hard to believe it’s already been five years since Hearts first introduced East Nashville to the vibrant cafe culture of Australia with fantastic coffee and wonderful seasonal and healthy brunchy fare. The Hearts crew plans to pull out all the stops on Sunday, July 20, from 5 p.m. until late as they invite their fans to 914 Gallatin Ave. for an evening of celebration. The aforementioned Daddy’s Dogs and Saap Saap will be in attendance serving up hot dogs and Lao barbecue, respectively, along with Korean shaved ice from @thatsitwithyanyan. There will also be live music and a DJ, face painting and tattoos, and free goodie bags for the first 30 guests. It should be a blast!

If you’re looking for something to do on the Cumberland version of the Oltrarno, Cafe Babu has a special collaboration dinner planned for July 20 starting at 7 p.m. as they welcome chef Colibrí Jiménez to their Wedgewood-Houston home at 1044 Third Ave. S. all the way from Mexico City. Chef Jiménez will create an omakase experience featuring five courses celebrating the flavors of Mexico. Cocktails and wine will be available for pairing, and á la carte options will be on order for walk-ins who don’t make their reservations for this fun dinner in advance.

Brotherly Love Cheese Steak

Finally, just to help you plan ahead for some fine food after this marathon of a dining week is over, circle your calendar for Saturday, July 26, when Brotherly Love Cheesesteaks will bring their absolutely legit “whiz Wit” to the Nations to pop-up at Perfectly Fine at 1105 51st Ave. N. from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. (Or more likely, until they sell out!)

This collab has been years in the making, ever since Perfectly Fine’s co-owner Scout Crampton first discovered Nadeen’s Hermitage Haven and became friends with owner John Hoffman. Fast forward to today, and Hoffman has opened Brotherly Love just a few blocks away from Perfectly Fine, and more importantly, brought those amazing cheesesteaks from his Hermitage haunt to the Nations.

Here’s what they’re planning to have on offer for the big collaboration afternoon:

  • Classic cheese steak - Thinly sliced center cut ribeye, with or without onions, with whiz or Cooper Sharp cheese on a fresh Amoroso roll

  • Chicken cheesesteak - Tender seasoned chicken breast, with or without onions, with whiz or Cooper Sharp cheese on a fresh Amoroso roll

  • BBQ chicken cheesesteak - Tender, seasoned chicken breast in housemade BBQ sauce, fresh mozzarella cheese, pineapple, jalapenos, red onions, and bacon,  drizzled with whiz on a fresh Amoroso roll

  • Chopped Elaina - Chopped ham, pepperoni, hot capicola, Genoa salami, provolone, onions, banana peppers, lettuce, tomato, and a housemade vinaigrette on a fresh Amoroso roll

Drinks:

  • Citywide Special Drink - Bearded Iris Homestyle + a shot of Cedar Ridge Bourbon

  • Philadelphia Fish House Punch - Kasama rum, brandy, peach, lemon

  • McGillin's Chopin vodka gimlet

  • Chopin cold brew martini

  • Chopin raspberry limoncello drink

  • Aperol Spritz

  • Ojo De Agua fresh margarita

No reservations are required, but you might want to get there early if you want to snag a slice of cheesy heaven on a roll!
