As we reported last week, all Nashvillians ages 16 and up are now eligible for COVID-19 vaccination. And now, after too long a wait, there's finally an effort planned to move hospitality workers to the front of the line.

Restaurant and bar workers probably spend more time in close contact with the largest number of maskless patrons, exposing them to much greater COVID-19 risk than plenty of others.

As of today, all Tennesseans over the age of 16 are eligible for their Fauci ouchie — but Metro Health has at least recognized the importance of protecting the workers in the hospitality industry (who are in contact with more out-of-towners than workers in just about any other industry). To help mitigate the risk, Metro has set aside 500 vaccination appointments per day Wednesday, April 7, through Tuesday, April 13, just for members of the restaurant and bar industry.

If you’re in the biz or know someone who could use this info, check out the special registration page that has been set up to schedule appointments. It’s about damn time!
