Sherry continues to have a moment as a spirit. Once derided as a drink for old ladies between their bridge games and dinner, this fortified Spanish wine is being recognized for its complex aromas and flavors, which can range from sweet to bone dry.
Barcelona Wine Bar has introduced many Nashvillians to the wonders of sherry, so they are a logical spot to celebrate National Sherry Week Nov. 4-11, or to explore sherry, really, any time. Try some glasses from their extensive selection of sherries, or even better, join them for a gala Sherry Pairing Dinner they’re calling “A Night in Jerez,” planned for Thursday, Nov. 14. Chef Andrew Capella has planned an extensive menu of small plates paired with famous sherries, ranging from Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez.
