McDougal’s Chicken Fingers and Wings — the popular Hillsboro Village-based comfort food joint — will open in early spring 2020 in the Edgehill neighborhood near the Gulch.
The restaurant will operate from a nondescript modernist structure with an address of 901 12th Ave. S., with the building sitting at the southwest corner of the intersection of 12th Avenue and South Street.
In addition to chicken fingers and wings, McDougal's offers salads, sandwiches, fries, free soft serve ice cream, beer and house-made sauces. Tommy McDougal, who owns the business, opened the Village McDougal’s way back in January 2004. He later opened a sister restaurant on White Bridge Road in August 2015.
Of note, the Hillsboro Village eatery just began offering buckets of beer on ice, which had it had on the menu in the past, McDougal said. The beer buckets will be offered in the store on 12th.
McDougal says he expects to have approximately 25 employees at the future restaurant. He is not disclosing the cost to get operational or terms of the lease.
"We feel the general Gulch area is primed for a restaurant such at McDougal's," he says.
Nashville-based DWC Construction is handling the build-out of the space via a permit valued at $45,000. McDougal's will operate from about 2,800 square feet.
Local real estate investor Treg Warner in February paid $2.4 million for the property, also located near both Music Row and 12South, from which McDougal's will operate (read more here). Next door is Warner’s building that was last home to Asian restaurant Thai Esane and that will soon see the opening of King Siam.
