For those seeking good cocktails, Golden Sound is a hidden treasure in The Gulch, and if you haven’t been in a while, Tuesday, Feb. 17, would be a good chance to check it out. That evening, starting at 6 p.m., the Golden Sound team will host James Beard Foundation Award-winning restaurateur and author Kevin Boehm for a conversation and signing event for his new book, The Bottomless Cup — a reflection on leadership, hospitality and longevity in the business.
A Night in Nashville with Kevin Boehm will begin with a cocktail reception featuring passed hors d’oeuvres and wines, followed by an intimate conversation with Boehm. He’ll share his personal story, leadership lessons and insights behind his new book. Tickets for the event include admission and a signed, personalized copy of the book. Tickets can be purchased here with code “NASHKEVIN” for $25 off.
It’s almost time again for Bubbles & Bourbon, Nashville’s premier 1920s-themed fundraising event. The glamorous party returns to Marathon Music Works on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 6 until 9 p.m. with elevated Champagne and bourbon tastings, live music from the Chris West Jazz Quartet, aerial entertainment from In Flight Entertainment Productions and a food spread from Southern Spoon.
Proceeds benefit W.O. Smith Music School and their efforts to offer free music lessons to deserving young people all over town. This is always an entertaining event, and attendees are encouraged to dress with Jazz Era flair. As a bonus, the organizers are offering a 15 percent discount on tickets if you make your reservation here using the code “chamberlain.”
Longtime readers (and astute PR professionals) know that I almost never write about National [fill-in-the-blank food or drink item] stories. The very fact that there is both a National Margarita Day and an International Margarita Day means I usually ignore those emails twice a year. But when I heard that Social Cantina in Germantown is using the occasion to raise money for Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, I decided to bend my own rules.
Between a hostile government-funding environment, rapidly rising input costs, an increase in demand for their services thanks to natural disasters, and the economy being what it is, Second Harvest can always use extra help. So here goes nothing.
[Ahem, tap, tap, tap] Sunday, Feb. 22, is National Margarita Day, kids! Your friends at Social Cantina at 820 Fourth Ave. N. have been offering $5 Social Margaritas all month long and donating two meals to Second Harvest. To celebrate NMD, Social Cantina will feature $22 pitchers, and they are planning what they call The Great Margarita Release — a group toast and collective scream taking place at 2 p.m. to release stress and foster a sense of community.
So yeah, swaller and holler to your hearts’ contents, margarita fans! It’ll be for a good cause.
