Great news! Manny's is back! The pizzeria in the Arcade downtown is a favorite of discerning pizza lovers. (The Scene's late editor Jim Ridley was an enthusisatic fan. Back in 2008, in a post titled Things To Eat In Nashville Before You Die, he includes this recommendation: "Sit in the Arcade at lunchtime while eating a slice of Manny's pizza or a pepperoni roll." (The post was based on a larger story called The Big Chill: 125 Things to Do in Nashville Before You Die, which is worth a perusal even nine years later.)
My Nashville Post colleague William Williams spotted the return of Manny's and filed a report Thursday:
Manny’s House of Pizza has reopened in downtown’s The Arcade after a seven-month closing for upgrades. The beloved hole-in-the-wall New York City-style pizza joint reopened earlier this week and has seen robust crowds since, according to Adele Macca, owner with husband Manny Macca.
“We redid the whole store,” she said. “It’s a very different atmosphere.”
Macca said that she and Manny are considering offering abbreviated hours compared to the times of operation of the store prior to its closing earlier this year. Of note, Manny’s will not be open on Saturdays.
Another change involves the offering of a private event option in the dining room, she said.
Opened in 1984, Manny’s House of Pizza consistently earns high praise from individuals and on-line entities. The eatery also serves pasta, calzones and rolls.
We're eager to go check it out. If any of you make it there before us, chime in below in the comments.
