Ludlow’s Gumbo Bar & Steak Planned for 12South

A pair of local restaurateurs have purchased the equipment and lease of 12South restaurant The Flipside and will quickly reinvent the space with Ludlow’s Gumbo Bar & Steak, Eater reports.

To open in mid-October, the future 12South eatery, located at 2403 12th Ave. S., will offer gumbo and a prime steak option. It will be open for lunch, brunch and dinner, Eater reports.

Rachel Kohler and Tim Kohler own Brentwood-based steak and seafood restaurant Ludlow & Prime. The Kohlers opened Ludlow & Prime in 2017 in the Brentwood Place shopping center, in a space last home to Cross Corner Bar & Grill.

Having opened in 2014, The Flipside specialized in pan-sautéed chicken with multiple toppings, milkshakes and beer. It closed this past weekend, eater.com reports.

“The locals needed another option in 12South,” Tim Kohler tells the Scene, noting the combination of residents and visitors to the bustling district as being a major lure.

The Kohlers are not disclosing terms of the lease or the cost to get operational.

Nashville-based real estate investor Treg Warner owns the property, having paid $725,000 for it in Sept. 2013, according to Metro records.
