Holy cannoli!
Cooking at home on Sunday nights stinks. There, I said it. There are any number of reasons why this particular meal is so problematic, ranging from post-NFL-football-game hangovers to dread for the impending work week or, even worse, the dearth of produce available in local groceries at that time of the week. (Seriously, I went to the Hillsboro Village Kroger last week and it looked like I remember the Palo Alto Safeway was like when the Grateful Dead was playing at Frost Amphitheater and the Deadheads had utterly denuded every vegetable bin in the city like a horde of vegetarian locusts.)
So it’s gratifying to find out about the Second Sunday Supper option at Answer on 46th Avenue North in Sylvan Park. While the restaurant does not usually accept to-go orders, on selected Sundays of each month, they prepare special meal kits designed to feed a family of four. That’s what I call convenience! This month, the theme is Italian, and the menu is inspired by chef Chris Raucci’s grandmother Josephine. On Jan. 20, you’ll be able to pick up a family-style meal of a mixed greens salad, rigatoni with sausage and meatballs made using meat from Porter Road Butcher, and cannoli for just $50.
Here’s what you have to do to save yourself the agony of executing a decent meal on a Sunday night: Place your order by 5 p.m. on the prior Sunday; that would be Jan. 13 this month. Call the restaurant at 615-942-0866 or by emailing victoria@answerrestaurant.com. They’ll need a credit card number and your desired pickup time between 4 and 5 p.m. on Sunday the 20th. This is a limited-availability offer, so don’t wait until the last minute or you might miss out on grandma’s meatballs! Enjoy your lazy Sunday.
