Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler at L.A. Jackson's Mardi Gras
Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler at L.A. Jackson's Mardi Gras

Not everyone knows that the culinary team behind the food and beverage outlets at the Thompson Hotel in the Gulch have deep New Orleans ties, stretching back to when the property first opened in 2016. So it makes plenty of sense that they want to throw the best Mardi Gras party in town, specifically at their rooftop L.A. Jackson bar on Saturday, Feb. 22.

The carnival kicks off at 3 p.m. and will run until they hose down the floors like the end of the evening on Bourbon Streer. (Not really.) The party will feature classic and updated versions of New Orleans libations like the Frozen Daiquiri and Frozen French 75 made with Sipsmith, St. Germain, lemon and cava, along with old standards such as the Sazerac, Ramos Gin Fizz and Hurricane. Groups of six or more can share the large format cocktail, FAT TUESDAY, made with Pimm’s, gin, ginger, cucumber, strawberry and mint. Festive snacks like Boudin Balls and King Cake Doughnuts will also be available for purchase.

The music will be pumping all day and night with sets by a DJ and second-line fun from Half Brass, a local favorite jazz band. Admission is free, but you should expect big crowds. That’s OK; nobody is in a hurry in NOLA during carnival season!
