The owners of Cilantro Mexican Grill on Eighth Avenue South in Melrose have taken the East Nashville space long home to Five Points Cocina Mexicana.
Javier Gonzalez and his business partner have purchased for an undisclosed sum the equipment and lease for Five Points Cocina, and have begun remodeling the interior and the outdoor patio. The address is 972 Main St.
To be called Cilantro Mexican Grill @ 5 Points, the restaurant is remaining open during remodeling, says Gonzalez, who opened Cilantro at 2330 Eight Ave. S. in October 2016.
Gonzalez, who will maintain Melrose Cilantro, says the Main Street outpost should prove successful, in part, because it is located on the outbound traffic side of Main Street, “an easy grab for take-out going home.” Gonzalez says the upgrades should be finished in early April. He's been planning the East Side move since November.
About 15 employees will work at the east side restaurant. The Melrose Cilantro employs about 22 workers.
