When it comes to growth of new and interesting eating and drinking establishments, the West Side is really hitting its stride. Whatever you want to call the neighborhoods of The Nations, Sylvan Park, Sylvan Heights, Historic West Town, Charlotte Park or just all those tall skinnies you can see from I-40 on your way to McKay’s, these up-and-coming areas are becoming more and more important to Nashville's culinary scene.
To celebrate this growth and to benefit an organization that seeks to support the under-resourced community that already lived in the area long before the current gentrification began to tear down and rebuild the inventory of homes, Fat Bottom Brewery has volunteered to host a special new event they are calling “Taste of West Nashville.”
On Thursday, Sept. 7, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Fat Bottom will welcome the neighborhood and guests from all over town to their property at 800 44th Ave. N. for an evening for food and drink, plus performances by local musicians and a silent auction. Tickets are $35 and available online. Once you arrive, patrons ages 21-and-up can purchase a $15 upgrade that includes unlimited beers provided by Fat Bottom.
Proceeds from the Taste of West Nashville benefit the West Nashville Dream Center, a community center with a stated goal to "improve the safety and quality of life for the under-resourced in the surrounding neighborhoods.”
Here’s a list of the restaurants who have promised to participate:
2. The Charlotte Avenue Chick-Fil-A
3. Farm Burger
4. 51st Kitchen
5. 3 Corners Coffee
6. The Ridge
10. Local Taco
11. Frothy Monkey
12. Calypso Cafe
13. Flip Burger
14. McDougal's Chicken
16. Avo
Come hungry! And you might want to arrange some sort of rideshare, because parking will be limited in the neighborhood, and there is that unlimited beer thing.
