Southall exterior

Fresh on the heels of topping the “Top 20 Resorts in The South” list as part of Condé Nast Traveler’s 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards, Southall Farm & Inn has planned a jam-packed schedule of autumn and winter events, many of which are open to locals as well as resort guests.

Non-guests will need to book a dining reservation or a spa appointment for access to some of the activities, but you deserve a little pampering, right? On selected Thursdays and Fridays during October, the resort is offering complimentary hay rides and tours of the 500-plus-acre working farm that houses the inn. Guides will share spooky stories and offer access to a self-guided wooded trail. After your tour or your dinner, stop in at Southall’s amiable speakeasy Dottie’s for a nightcap.

Southall trails

On Sunday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., Southall will stage a Field & Folk Seasonal Market where local vendors and regional craftsfolk will offer seasonal goods and prepared foods. The event is free to attend, and demos and hands-on activities will be offered at various sites on the property.

Chef Richard Jones runs the preservation program at Southall’s Jammery, and he presents monthly Food Fable events that create a menu around featured harvests from the farm paired with cocktails, wine or spirits. The next three Food Fables will focus on carrots (Oct. 24), the fall harvest (Nov. 21) and sweet potatoes (Dec. 12). The chef also puts on Tiffin Dinners at the Jammery each Friday night, with a monthly changing five-course dinner menu inspired by global culinary traditions and Southall’s current harvest.

Another very special dinner is coming up at Southall on Thursday, Oct. 29, as they welcome cult Napa wine producer Hundred Acre Wine Group for an exclusive Wine Cellar Dinner. Just six guests will sit at January’s wine cellar table to taste through eight stellar wines paired with six courses of food. It should be a very memorable evening!
