Brightside Bakeshop, a recent fixture of sorts in East Nashville, will establish a presence on the West Side.
Specifically, the bakery — known for croissants and brioche — will take space in a building located at 4909 Indiana Ave. in The Nations and once used as a church.
Nashville-based real estate investor and developer Jeff Estepp, who owns the property, is having the building adaptively reused to accommodate retail and restaurant uses.
Andrea Borchers, who co-owns Brightside Bakeshop with her husband Brad Borchers, says the bakery is slated to open this fall. She will be the face of the business, and Brad will handle bookkeeping.
Brightside Bakeshop has five employees currently working (retail only) at 713 Porter Road in The Shops at Porter East. That East Side business has been open since October 2018 and has used restaurant industry support company Citizen Kitchen for shared kitchen equipment purposes. Brightside has about 15 employees at its East Side locale and expects its Indiana Avenue outpost to employ 10 to 12. The bakery will operate in a full-scale manner in the West Side building, as it will have its own equipment.
The Borchers live in The Nations and started their business at the nearby Richland Park Farmers Market.
