Chef author and TV star Anthony Bourdain is coming to Nashville to launch his latest 10-city tour of appearances. He'll kick off his
Close to the Bonetour on July 7 at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, according to a release from TPAC today.
" 'Close to the Bone' serves audiences an all-new live show featuring an unyielding, brutally honest monologue reflecting on diverse culture, street cuisine and Bourdain’s travels to lesser-known locations around the world, followed by an open Q&A session," it says.
“I want to open the book on what I’ve learned seeking the road UN-traveled — more than I get to show you on television,” Bourdain says in the release.
Bourdain previously came to TPAC in 2012, and confessed to Bites' Chris Chamberlain in an interview prior to that show that it would be his first visit to Nashville. Guess he must have liked it OK.
Best-known for TV shows that combine food and travel, Bourdain is currently starring in the CNN series Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown. The fifth season premieres at 8 p.m. CST on Sunday, April 26.
Meanwhile, if you want to see the raconteur in action — the release calls Bourdain "a professional gadfly, bête noir, advocate, social critic, and pork enthusiast, recognized for his caustic sense of humor worldwide" — take note. TPAC says tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, April 17, at TPAC.org, by phone at 615-782-4040, or in person at the TPAC box office, 505 Deaderick St. downtown.
