Demos' Closes Downtown Location

The downtown Nashville location of American and Italian cuisines restaurant Demos’ has closed permanently — likely the latest food and beverage business casualty due to COVID-19.

Known for its steaks, chicken, seafood and multiple spaghetti sauces, Demos’ has been a staple in the central business district since 1989, operating from 300 Commerce St. Billed as a “family style restaurant,” the restaurant catered, in large part, to downtown hotel-staying visitors to the city.

The owners of Demos’, who could not be reached for comment, also operate branches of the restaurant in Hendersonville, Lebanon and Murfreesboro. According to Eater.com, which first reported the closing, those three remain open.

Earlier this year, the downtown Demos’ — the parent company’s first restaurant — had closed temporarily due to the coronavirus. Its space now offers "for lease signs," with some equipment and furnishings having been removed from the space.
