Cream cheese-stuffed french toast
It was a sad December day when The Loving Pie Company closed up shop — in fact, the cravings still come. Last week I was aching for a fat slice of their Cherry Trifecta, a super fudgy brownie-like chocolate pie topped with tart cherry sauce. *Homer Simpson drool sounds* If only Instagram pictures could come to life.
Thankfully the Berry Hill shop — also formerly home to Caffe di Pranzo and Mothership BBQ — didn't stay empty for long. The Nashville Jam Cafe, founded by the same folks who make the award-winning Nashville Jam Company jam, has moved in to the space on Columbine Place and they brought their tremendous breakfast menu with them.
Before moving to Berry Hill, the Nashville Jam Cafe was out in Old Hickory. The location was beautiful. It was right on the water, but the parking situation was a total mess. Still, as I noted in my review from 2016, the battle for a parking spot was worth it if it meant getting your hands on their stuffed french toast, fried green tomato wrap and HASHBROWNS MADE IN A WAFFLE IRON.
The cafe is also open for lunch, offering burgers, meat and three options, sandwiches like a shrimp po' boy and a catfish sandwich and tacos filled with a variety of meat and seafood, including grilled shrimp, ahi tuna, catfish and smoked pork. And, of course, you can get a basket of biscuits to go with all your favorite flavors of Nashville Jam Co.'s jam (mmm ... strawberry jalapeño). See all their menus here.
They're open for breakfast and lunch Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
