Nashville’s chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier is made up of a remarkable group of women involved in the food and beverage business, so when they invite someone to honor and to address their group, you need to sit up and take notice. On Tuesday, Nov.14, our local Les Dames will gather for a luncheon from 11:45 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Margot Café, where chef Margot McCormack will prepare a three-course meal inspired by best-selling cookbook author and Jewish foodways authority Joan Nathan.
Nathan’s latest book, King Solomon’s Table, has garnered great acclaim, not surprising considering that Nathan is the author of 11 books, including Jewish Cooking in America and The New American Cooking, both of which won both James Beard Awards and IACP Awards. McCormack plans for the meal to incorporate the local and regional ingredients of Middle Tennessee.and will pair it with a selection of wines. Nathan will address the luncheon about her rich heritage in, and knowledge of, Jewish cuisine and discuss how she enjoys preparing fall ingredients.
Tickets for this “don’t-miss” luncheon are $60 for lunch or $90 for lunch plus a copy of King Solomon’s Table. Both prices include tax and gratuity. Purchase your spot at the table at brownpapertickets.com.
The ticket page also notes that "all proceeds from the event will go towards the Les Dames Nashville Scholarship Fund, which provides culinary school assistance and career grant assistance to women in the food, farming, beverage, and hospitality fields in Middle Tennessee."
