Although
The Beer Paleat 4109 Charlotte Ave. in Sylvan Park has been open for about a month now, they've just been too darned busy to celebrate until now. This Saturday, Nov. 8, owners Myers Lambert and John Craver invite the public to come visit them in their cozy taproom at the site of the old Hostess bakery. (You can peek through the windows next door to see the progress of their
impending neighbors at Flip Burger.)
Their other neighbor, Blooma Yoga, is holding an open house from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, so the The Beer Pale is tagging along. Feel free to drop in both venues for a sip and stretch. The Beer Pale has 24 taps with local and regional beers to fill pints or growlers, and their lunch menu features a pretty respectable Reuben sandwich and a popular French dip. Plus, they serve Zapp's potato chips as a side, so that's a big plus one in my book!
Over in Metro Center, they're finally pouring beers at HonkyTonk Brewing Co., the latest craft brewery to open in Nashville.
Scott Swygert has been cobbling together a brewery using purchased and fabricated equipment from all over the world, including an Italian fermentations tank. He's done most of the work himself, so it's a real achievement that he's opened his new taproom and brewing facility at 240 Cumberland Bend.
Nashvillians of a certain age might feel a sense of deja vu when they enter HonkyTonk, since long ago it was the site of the Heartthrob Cafe, a Hard Rock knock-off where I might have perforated my stomach lining back when I used to derive a great deal of my sustenance from their free taco bar during happy hour. Ugh.
Swygert has found a much better use of the space, brewing up a line of beers including American wheat, amber ale and a hoppy IPA. Drop by soon and welcome him to the neighborhood. Let me know if you find the keys to a 1977 Pontiac Grand Safari station wagon that I lost there early some morning in 1990.
