Simon Joyner is your favorite songwriter’s favorite songwriter. The Omaha-bred artist counts Conor Oberst and Gillian Welch among his fans, thanks largely to his uncanny ability to connect the personal to the universal using clever, detailed songwriting to share bigger truths about the world around him. When Joyner spoke with the Scene in May, he was at work on new music and plotting a new album, tentatively titled Pocket Moon. Look for him to bring great tunes new and old to Soft Junk, where he’ll share a bill with songwriter-guitarist and local fixture Cassie Berman, as well as Nashville-via-Virginia songwriter Nick Woods. 9 p.m. at Soft Junk, 919 Gallatin Ave. BRITTNEY McKENNA
