Final Performances of chatterbird’s Virtual Chamber Music Series

Music has the power to move, inspire and even heal. And for the past several weeks, chatterbird has worked to do just that with its Virtual Chamber Music Series. Curated by the innovative ensemble’s own musicians, this weekly series was created in response to the events of the past year-plus —  from the isolation of the pandemic to myriad incidents of social injustice and unrest. The resulting performances have taken on a wide range of themes — from civil rights to LGBTQ issues and even environmental justice — and have featured a number of world premieres. Each concert also spotlights a local nonprofit, such as the Nashville Public Library’s Civil Rights Center, Brooklyn Heights Community Garden and the Oasis Center. The series continues this Friday with a performance from bassoonist Maya Stone, featuring spoken word from Stephanie Pruitt Gaines. The next performance will be on June 18, and will feature clarinetist Emily Bowland and the music of Dave Ragland. Performances are free to the public, and can be viewed via chatterbird’s Facebook page, where you can check out past performances as well. Noon via chatterbird.org  AMY STUMPFL
