The old “I could listen to so-and-so sing the phonebook” idiom gets tossed around a lot, but when it comes to Emily West, I actually really would show up to listen to her sing even the most tedious portion (the Smiths, for example) of the great yellow tome. So you can bet that West’s performance Sunday at City Winery is one worth catching. Luckily, West will be singing real tunes, and she’s bringing along the Tin Pan Symphony, who describe themselves as Nashville’s first “true pop symphony.” They’ll perform music from her new album Symphonies, as well as covers of some classic tunes.
