Drive Through the Dancing Lights Of Christmas Display

For 11 years running, the Dancing Lights of Christmas has held court at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center (aka the Wilson County Fairgrounds) in Lebanon. But this year we can appreciate their delightful dose of good cheer more than ever before. Drive-thru displays are really the perfect way to take in millions of twinkling lights. There are no crowds! No standing out in the cold or in rainy weather! It’s just you and two-and-a-half miles of dizzying delight, all synced up to classic and modern holiday music you hear through your car’s radio. (Last year’s playlist included a mash-up of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” and Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’ ” rewritten for Christmas — and I am still laughing about the line “Jingle bells / Straight to hell” sung to the tune of “Exit light / Enter night.”) Weekends can be especially busy, so my advice is to go on a weeknight — during a Tuesday night visit last year, we were able to cruise through the course at our own pace, even stopping the car now and then to take everything in. Tickets are $25 for each vehicle (and $50 for limos? People take limos to see Christmas lights?) and can be purchased in advance at dancinglightsofchristmas.com. Beginning 5 p.m. nightly through Jan. 3 at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center, 945 E. Baddour Parkway, Lebanon MEGAN SELING
