Def Leppard

Look, I’m not saying you can’t release new music 40 years into your career. I’m not even saying you can’t have a hit at that point. I’m just saying that if you’ve had the kind of run Def Leppard had between 1981 and 1993, I’m not here for the new stuff. During that period, the former Sheffielders notched an amazing 15 Top 10 singles on the U.S. rock charts. Hysteria, in particular, was such a juggernaut that it spun off hits for two-and-a-half solid years. Fortunately, frontman Joe Elliott & Co. have been loading the set of this arena tour (the opening acts are Poison and Tesla) with hits, mercifully adding only a few recent songs into the mix among anthems like “Rock of Ages,” “Photograph” and the delightfully stupid “Pour Some Sugar on Me.” If you like your arena filled with arena rock, it’s sure to be a fun time.  STEVE CAVENDISH
