Last week, the Belcourt launched its David Lynch: A Retrospective, a two-week series featuring all 10 of the monumentally peculiar auteur’s features, along with several of his short films. See our rundown of Lynch’s full oeuvre, complete with rankings for just how weird each of the weirdo’s films is. The series continues this week with some of Lynch’s most substantial works, including: the powerfully disquieting Twin Peaks prequel Fire Walk With Me (May 12-14); the fever-dreamy love-and-murder epic Lost Highway (May 13-14); the sentimental and based-on-a-true-story The Straight Story (May 14 & 16); and 2001’s Hollywood riddle to end all Hollywood riddles, Mulholland Drive (May 14 & 17). Also screening May 11-14 is Jon Nguyen and Rick Barnes’ documentary David Lynch: The Art Life. With the new season of Lynch’s Twin Peaks set to debut May 21 on Showtime, I can’t think of a better way to prepare. Through May 17 at the Belcourt D. PATRICK RODGERS
